Frequently Asked Questions
What information should I have about my case when first contacting your company?
It is important that you gather as much information as possible about your case prior to your first meeting with us. By providing the details of your insurance policy, the claim number you received from your insurer, an accident report and a summary of your injuries, you will help us determine how best to proceed with the case.
How will my first appointment with GC Law be handled?
Based on the information we obtained from you when you first contacted us, we will have given your case to the lawyer on the GC Law team whose experience best matches your particular claim. The lawyer will discuss the details of your case with you and give you a preliminary estimate of your chances of success. We do not charge for this initial consultation.
How will the fee system work at GC Law?
Most people cannot afford the up-front costs of legal representation after they have suffered an injury. The cost of legal services should not be the focus of pursuing your rights following an accident. Therefore, we operate on a NO WIN NO FEE basis. This means that we will pay for all outlays involved with your claim (such as medical report fees, barristers fees, court filing fees and mediator fees) but we will not charge for professional fees or outlays unless you receive compensation for your injuries. GC Law will be paid as a multiple of a court scale of costs. If your case is not successful, then you won’t have to pay legal fees at all.
Put simply, we don’t get paid unless you get paid.
At GC Law we are always upfront and honest about our fees. This ensures our clients’ peace of mind knowing that there are no hidden charges and all costs associated with your claim are disclosed prior to settlement.
What are the chances of winning my case?
Unfortunately, no one can ever be 100% certain of a success – there are no guarantees. At your first appointment with us, your appointed lawyer will give you a realistic assessment of your chances of success. We will do our utmost relying on our vast experience and expertise, to ensure the best possible outcome for your case. Remember 99% of the claims we handle are settled without going to Court.
Why should I engage a specialist personal injury lawyer – can I use my family lawyer?
Personal injury is a highly specialised area of legal practice. The opposing lawyer will ordinarily be a specialist in the area acting for an insurance company. By engaging a specialist personal injury lawyer with similar expertise, you are maximising your probabilities of a successful resolution of your case.
If my case does go to trial, how will you help me to prepare?
In the rare chance your case goes to trial, we understand that it can be daunting. In the event of your case going to trial, we will outline the steps involved in the process and keep you well-informed of our strategy. We will work with you collaboratively so that you are aware of the status of your case at all times and know what to expect during the trial. Our lawyers at GC Law are always available to address any queries or concerns you might have.
