Many people think that if you’re injured you need to be away from work to recover. However, that is not necessarily true.

It is often the case that full recovery is not achieved before an injured worker returns to work. The longer you are away from work, the less chance you have of returning.

Long term work absence typically has a negative impact on health and wellbeing. Not working can result in loss of self-esteem, standing and identity in the community and bring about a loss of social participation.

The risk of mental illness increases drastically for anyone out of work long term. It leads to adverse physical, psychological, social and financial effects, which worsen each passing day.
